A Time Passed

This was one of my very first paintings. This scene was inspired by the Dust Bowl era—a time when the land was dry, the wind relentless, and families had to make hard choices. I always imagined a story behind it: a family of farmers, worn down by the struggle, deciding it was time to move on. I planned to paint a broken-down wagon with a wheel fallen off, maybe an old owl perched on the fence post, watching it all unfold. I never quite finished those details, but the feeling of that moment—the quiet, the dust, the sense of leaving—still comes through.
