Back Country

A lot of my paintings come from photo references—just places I see in passing. I’ll be out riding around, and when something catches my eye, I pull over, take a few shots, and it often becomes the inspiration for my next painting. That’s exactly how this one came about. Later, a man saw it and asked where I got the scene from. I told him, and he said, “That’s my ranch—those are my cows!” He bought it right then and there. One of those full-circle moments I’ll never forget.
